The project

Construction has begun and when everything is completed, Lindholmshamnen will be Lindholmen’s green lung. At present, there is already a well-established level of service on location. Cafés, restaurants, stores and gyms are located within walking distance.

The new quarters will feature interesting architecture with a great variation in height and façade materials. The location of the buildings allows room for beautiful parks, squares and wind-sheltered locations with the sunniest spots. Approximately 650 apartment units of various sizes have begun to be built, and of those approximately a third consists of rental units. A preschool is also being built on the east side of the area.

Lindholmshamnen’s five quarters are framed by the classic shipyard buildings, the green Lindholmsallén, Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel and the new office building, Piren 2, which will also serve as the area’s new meeting location. Toward the harbour basin at Lindholmspiren, a square with a quay is being built. Here you will also find Hamnpaviljongen, or harbour pavilion, a glassed-in building with a restaurant.

The connections with the other side of the river are already excellent at present. Buses and ferries run often, quickly and comfortably. The new and longer bridge, which will open to car and bus traffic in 2020, will facilitate bicycling. As well, there are long-term plans for a cable-car between Järntorget and Hisingen, which is expected to be ready in time for the 400th anniversary in 2021.
